On September 18 2006, a scout observer Marine Corporal Carlos A. Perez from Dallas, Tx of 1st Supporting Arms Liason Team (1st ANGLICO) working with B Company, 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment (TF 1/6 INF) attached to 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division post rear security while the rest of his squad cross an irrigation canal to pursue an fleeing insurgents that previous engaged the squad with sniper fire during Operation Bunker Hill. The purpose of Operation Bunker Hill is locating possible insurgent to reduce the murder and intimidation of local citizens and reduce attacks on coalition forces by patrols and questioning the local populace in Jezirah, Iraq. 1/6 INF is currently deployed with I MEF (FWD) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq (MNF-W) to develop the Iraqi Security Forces, Facilitate the development of Official rule of law through democratic government reforms, and continue the development of a market based economy centered on Iraqi reconstruction.
